We are on the eve of what we hope will be a great adventure. The road trip of our lifetime. Perhaps we will become one of those couples that finds a way to work
a little anecdote into every conversation, even random exchanges with total strangers. "That reminds me of that time we made a 6000 mile lap around the country, and stopped at every old Midas Muffler Man Monument." Hmmmm, maybe I better reconsider, as we may be left with only strangers for friends.
So what is the plan? Americana, yes. National treasures, yes. Geographic wonders and mysteries, hell yes. Then again, we plan, God laughs....
As we gather our stuff, highlight the map, and ready the vehicle, I remind myself that the day will come when we cannot do this anymore. Today is not that day.
