It is a rare day that I am close enough to my son to have dinner with him. Jordan lives in Anchorage, Alaska, four time zones and a brazillion miles from our home in Winston-Salem. Ok, it is not a brazillion miles, its 5,299.4 miles (taking the scenic route to Seattle) and another 1,430 miles by air. We left the car at the Seattle Tacoma Airport, and took an Alaska Air flight to Anchorage. Crossing into another time zone meant we picked up an extra hour! Moms, I know you can appreciate the math. Every hour counts.
By choice, we didn’t really do anything, or see anything. We spent an afternoon, and the entire next day, just hanging out and catching up and eating great food. Jordan is a great cook, and he also has a knack for finding great local restaurants. Too quickly, we were back at the airport, returning to the lower 48. I am grateful for the time we had. As Mary Poppins teaches, “enough is as good as a feast”.
