We made it. We arrived in Germany on September 1. The trip itself was uneventful. However, the months, weeks, days and hours leading up to our departure were fraught with angst as we attempted to navigate the requirements of both our home country, and our host country, while the two countries attempted to navigate an unpredictable and perplexing pandemic. But somehow, we passed through security, found our seats on the plane, flew over the Atlantic Ocean, arrived in Frankfurt, passed through customs, and were welcomed into Germany. From Frankfurt, we boarded a train to Erfurt, where daughter and her fiancé greeted us at the train station. A short ride on the street car, and an even shorter walk through the neighborhood, and we were in our new home! Let the shopping, biking, exploring and just being in Erfurt begin!!!

It did not take Ron long to find his favorite Thüringen Wurst stand. It is one of the oldest in the city, just visible under the white tent in the photo above, to the left of the giant soft serve ice cream cone. And there is always plenty of seating near the fountain, just across the tracks!
You made my Monday, Linda! Can't wait for more!
Beautiful photos. Enjoy every minute.
